More Feedback from Former Clients (Now Happily Employed):

“I’ve landed a GREAT new position. Having waited for the RIGHT position, despite the financial and ego challenges that created for me, I feel so much better set for the REST of my career. Thank you for your counseling and encouragement. Know that I appreciated your guidance during a time when I felt so professionally and personally vulnerable.”

April Grossinger’s Story

After earning a bachelor’s degree in mass media communications and a master’s degree in career development, I found myself drawn to helping people self-market. I noticed that too often, people struggle to articulate their talents and strengths.

My greatest satisfaction is helping people become confident and clear in their messaging about themselves and/or their businesses. I am also deeply committed to facilitating open respectful lines of communication in all work settings.

I have consulted with Fortune 500 businesses, small and mid-size companies, startups, colleges and universities, and I’ve assisted hundreds of individuals across the U.S. and abroad. I have led career development programs at organizations including Southern California Edison, Edison International, the City of Los Angeles, the Department of Water, and Power, Kaiser Permanente, and Cedars Sinai Medical Center. I have also had the pleasure of providing career services to graduate students and alumni at USC, Caltech, Scripps College, CalArts, the University of Redlands, and the University of Miami.

Speaker & Faculty Member

As a featured speaker and panelist at several human resource professional development events I have had the pleasure of engaging employers about effective job interviewing practices. I have presented at the Society of Human Resource Management (SHERM), the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium, and as a presenter at two Los Angeles-based Small Business Owner Summits sponsored by the professional employer organization BBSI.

My background includes serving as an adjunct faculty member at California State University, Northridge’s nationally recognized master-level career development program in Educational Psychology and Counseling, preparing the next generation of career professionals.

My company, Career Rises, is dedicated to helping talented, career-minded people of all backgrounds take charge of their careers.
